Fresh Meat

There sure are a lot of bad things out there in the world that can kill us. Global warming, terrorism, bird flu, viruses etc. Now the alarmist media tell us that processed meat can give us cancer.

Everyone kinda knew processed meats were, in some way, bad for them but were too busy eating sweet crispy bacon to care. A recent issue of Time magazine cited a study finding that processed meat, red meat and fried or grilled meat were bad. Geez, give me a break.

You know what this means? By comparison, Lechon is pretty healthy huh? Granted, it's red meat but hey, no nitrates! So drop those Christmas hams people and just eat them roasted pigs. It's the healthy option!

The best things in life are fattening.

The List

There's a lot of noise from the usual "activists" and the social media twitterati calling for the disclosure of a list containing the names of people who have dealt with Janet Lim Napoles in the Pork Barrel Scam.

I don't really care much anymore. I'm not sure if it is even proper to demand the list. It's not a public document or an official record of sorts. If it's a piece of evidence for a courtroom then there's going to be a long wait but oops, I forgot; actual courts of Law are too boring compared to the court of public opinion.

You ever notice that people exhibit a deep distrust of government and yet, at the same time, give that same government more power to "fix" their problems? In a sane world, we would leave the Pork Barrel Scam to the justice system. But oh my God! How slow and cumbersome our legal system is right? How corrupt and incompetent our officials are right? Why, we can't trust it! We gotta have our own Blue Ribbon Committee in the Senate to do something about it! Oh, wait! That kinda sucks too and won't actually accomplish anything... Let's just rally in the streets and post selfies about it on Facebook, that will work for sure!

See my point? There's a deep dysfunction in our whole system. That's obvious to anyone paying attention. No wonder people become apathetic and cynical. Can't say I blame them. Nothing is working right. Even a revolution doesn't work it seems.

Nothing. Is. Working.

A Storm is Brewing Part 2!

Well, shit.
For the next three days, a typhoon is gonna barrel through the Visayas region still smarting from a recent earthquake.

Nothing irritates me more than being told to pray. I have nothing against prayer but if you see something coming towards you and there's clearly still time to actually do something, I think prayer should be the last thing you do after everything else is done. If anything, God seems pissed. What did we do to deserve this? It's the rulers in Manila you want.  Those poor people in Bohol....

But I'm an optimist now, yeah? I distinctly remember fretting over Typhoon Pablo and it turned out alright.

Worst case scenario: no power for a month just like Typhoon Ruping.

The Rapture

The world was supposed to end today or something. Where have I heard that before?

Looks like I survived...again.

Visions of Doom

The Pacman won.

In what turned out to be an extraordinarily normal bout, Pacman won by unanimous decision. Of course, his "fans" bitched about the match being boring and how people were leaving the stadium during the last part of the match. The ingrates. Show some respect. Two people are punishing themselves and people moan about how there was no excitement? Be thankful nobody got put out for good.

What's next for the Pacman? Well, I'm pretty sure a match with Mayweather won't happen. Looking closely at the Pacman's current standing and taking into account every possible factor, I predict that the Pacman will be the next President of the Philippines. It is the only logical outcome.

You heard it here first.

Bad Feeling

I just took my Criminal Law exam today, It was all multiple choice but there is no easy choice as usual. The points are in such a way that it hurts to get even one answer wrong. I don't feel good about it. I think I might have made a lot of mistakes.

I've got a bad feeling.

I Want to Watch A Movie

I feel like watching a movie but unfortunately the only popular show today is that new Twilight movie.

Let's face it, Twilight is estrogen bait. It's got shirtless men and lovey dovey crap. I don't like chick flicks. The last chick flick I saw was The Perfect Catch with Jimmy Fallon if I remember right. It was so bad, that if I snuck in to see it, I'd want my money back. Twilight however, seems to be the queen of chick flicks. No way I'm watching that.

The other movie is Knight and Day. I'm not watching that. Out of principle, I'm never going to watch a movie starring Tom Cruise. He can go take his crazy somewhere else. The Last Airbender, M. Night Shamalamadingdong's latest bowel movement, received a lot of bad reviews. I'm a fan of the cartoon series it was based on so I will probably be disappointed.

Everything sucks now. Who took away all the fun? Seriously.

First Wave

Today was the first day of Law school.

The first subject was Human Rights of the Child. It's only one hour of the whole week but the next two hours were Constitutional Law. Of course, there was the whole "introduce yourself" bit in both classes. My constitutional Law professor asked me if I was related to my mom, the judge. Well that did it. My day was ruined. I hate it when people ask me if I'm related to my mom. It just feels awkward. The professor seemed like a pretty cool guy so the question probably didn't mean anything. We were given reading assignments for a graded recitation next meeting right off the bat. I didn't think it was gonna be easy anyway. I'm gonna be off at 8:30 in the evening every weekday but at least there's plenty of time in the mornings.

I noticed that there's a PA system inside the classroom that plays a chime every hour. I know that this will most likely drive me insane down the road. I got in touch with some old friends from Political Science though. Now I won't go insane alone.

This is only the beginning...
