Bar Set High

What ought to be one of the happiest days of my life is ruined by the ever looming shadow of the Bar exams. No person can practice Law without passing it and I hate it so much. I hate being told about it non-stop ever since I set foot in the university. All my accomplishments thus far seem to amount to absolutely nothing for some people since the bar exam is apparently all that matters; this over-hyped, overblown, bloated monstrosity of a government board exam.

I want to feel content and happy if even for just this one day.

Regesta Ergo Sum

Here's a funny story.

My friend sent me a message telling me a professor was looking for me which struck me as odd since I wasn't enrolled in his subject. I felt a sinking feeling in the pit of stomach. I looked at my midterm assessment slip and sure enough, I was enrolled in the wrong subject. Worse, I wasn't enrolled in one of the classes I was taking at all. I was supposed to be enrolled in a four unit subject but got a two unit one instead; one I had already taken.

It turns out the subject number I enrolled was wrong. An honest mistake but now, the penance. A little of the old fashioned walk of penitence; bureaucratic legwork and petition letter shuffling. Wrote a letter to the Registrar only to be told I had to make it out to the Vice President of Academics and then they would endorse it. It's midterms so I guess I need the approval of the higher ups. Fair enough, I've had worse rounds with this game.

This reminds me of the time I had to take the final exams of a certain class during my undergrad years but discovered on the week of the exams that I hadn't enrolled at all. It was miraculously sorted out but it must be mentioned that the Vice-President of the College of Arts and Sciences used to be the Dean of my department. That probably had something to do with it. Connections man, that's the society we live in. That class. by the way, was Philosophy.Do I really exist? Whatever.

The more important question is: Am I enrolled in this damned class?

Enrollment

Its time for enrollment again. What a pain in the ass. It never ends.

You think school enrollment is bad? Just wait until you're older and have to deal with government bureaucracy. It never ends.

I need a good night's sleep.

Walkout

The teacher called on three people to recite. Unfortunately, the three didn't read the case. Three consecutive calls on people who hadn't read drove our teacher to walk out. Luckily, it wasn't me who was called but still...

If it was me who was called, could I have given a satisfactory answer? Maybe. I read the case but I can only recall the "one thing" and nothing else. The "one thing" is what the case is all about or a specific feature in the case which is a "twist" to the lesson currently being discussed.. It might not even be the main issue. I can recall the "one thing" but I can't recall much else. I can't even remember if the case was murder or rape all I remember is the "one thing".

I dunno. Having the teacher walk out angrily is pretty demoralizing even if it wasn't your slip up. Kinda makes a person want to give up altogether.

The next meeting is gonna be a pain in the ass.

Chilly

Its Wednesday and it is cold and windy. There must be a typhoon or something. I forgot when a typhoon is a hurricane or when you call it a monsoon but enough about that. To make matters worse, the classrooms in the Law building are fully air-conditioned. Its like a meat freezer.

Actually, I have a conspiracy theory. The air-conditioning units are intentionally kept on full blast by the department to keep the rooms cold. Why? So us students would feel the need to buy their official Law school jackets! Its a money-making scheme I tell you, just what I'd expect from this school.

Maybe I can make a small fire under the desk for warmth...

Grand Finale

It's finals week so I haven't been updating. It's Wednesday so not much more till the week is over. I just had a test on Statutory Construction today. I feel good about my answers though, that usually means you're probably wrong.

I think I'm having a mini-freak out here.

Fun Time is Over...or is It?

Its time to go back to school. Its a good thing too. I'm still addicted to World of Warcraft. In fact, I think I'm developing a "WoW claw" where my right hand is always curved to the shape of a mouse. My left hand is still twitching from pressing hotkeys and keybindings that make no sense to any sane person but myself.

Help me Jesus!
